BC Ferries’ website, app, phone system outage restored

A handful of BC Ferries’ services experienced an outage Monday, causing some frustration among those trying to get around over the weekend, but the service says its website, app, and phone system are back up and running. Angela Bower reports.

A handful of BC Ferries’ services experienced an outage Monday, but the service says its website, app and phone system are back up and running.

A BC Ferries spokesperson confirmed to CityNews that the cause of the outage has been identified. The company’s website was down from around 6 a.m. to about 3 p.m. Monday.

On Friday, the company tweeted that Victoria Day is expected to be a “busy day of travel” from Swartz Bay in Victoria especially. Those without a booking were advised to arrive early.

Those looking to travel to and from Vancouver Island were also urged to consider leaving from Nanaimo instead of the provincial capital.
