One person hurt in targeted Burnaby shooting: RCMP

Mounties in Burnaby are investigating what’s considered to be a targeted shooting that left one person hurt on Thursday.

The RCMP says officers were called around 2 p.m. to Halifax Street and Woodway Place for reports of a shooting with injuries.

Investigators say the shooting is believed to have taken place inside a vehicle. However, when officers arrived at the scene, there were no victims, suspects, or vehicles around.

Police say a victim — a 20-year-old man — was treated in the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries after he sought medical care.

A few hours after the initial reports of the shooting, police say an SUV that was believed to have been involved was found on fire in Coquitlam.

Anyone who saw what happened or who has information about the shooting is asked to contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and quote file number 23-21196.
