Wildfire smoke paired with some hot temperatures have prompted an air quality advisory to be issued for Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
The notice was issued by the Metro Vancouver Regional District Thursday afternoon due to “high concentrations of ground-level ozone.”

Residents in the region are advised to avoid strenuous activities during the afternoon and early evening when ozone levels are the highest.
“Consider choosing easier outdoor activities, such as walking instead of running, where you do not have to breathe as hard,” states an information bulletin from the region.
The district says exposure is particularly concerning for those with underlying conditions like asthma, bronchitis, and other heart or lung disease, along with older adults, pregnant people, infants, and outdoor workers.
It is recommended people stay hydrated and seek out air conditioning if possible.
The district says the air quality advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
