Former Pitt Meadows mayor fined for withholding payroll deductions

The Law Society of British Columbia has fined a former Pitt Meadows mayor $10,000 for withholding payroll deductions from the Canada Revenue Agency.
Eric John Becker, partner at Peak Law Group, was operating as Becker and Company at the time.
The law society says Becker failed to pay the CRA $270,000 over a three-year period.
Becker has been sanctioned by the society numerous times since 1991.
The society handed Becker a 14-month suspension in 2021 for misappropriating client funds.
In a ruling released last month, Becker has two years to pay his latest penalty and is allowed to continue practicing in the meantime.
Becker was mayor of Pitt Meadows from 2014 to 2018.
