Metro Vancouver air quality advisory ends

An air quality advisory that had been in place for Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley since the weekend has been cancelled.

The Metro Vancouver Regional District says a “change in the weather” has improved air quality.

While there’s a bit of relief for now, the district notes another shift in the weather could push wildfire smoke back into the Lower Mainland.

The advisory was first issued on Saturday, Aug. 19, in response to high concentrations of fine particulate due to wildfire smoke.

According to the AirMap provided by the regional district, the air quality health index for the region was listed at 2 Tuesday afternoon, signifying a “low risk.”
