A third-floor unit at Surrey Memorial Hospital was flooded Monday evening, forcing the facility to move some patients.
Fraser Health says in a social media post that some patients in the affected area “needed to be moved to alternate care spaces to allow [them] to assess the damage and remediation.”
Last night, a unit at Surrey Memorial Hospital experienced a flood. As a result, some patients needed to be moved to alternate care spaces to allow us to assess the damage and remediation. Thanks to our staff and medical staff for working to ensure the well-being of our patients.

Fraser Health told CityNews that the 28 patients relocated are safe and unharmed.
They are still looking into the cause of the flood and “for the time being, the unit is partially closed while crews work on restoration.”
The hospital’s emergency department remains open and is still accepting patients.
They also say that patients with an injury or illness that requires non-life-threatening medical attention can visit an urgent and primary care centre or call the Fraser Health Virtual Care Line at 1-800-314-0999.
