1 child, 2 adults dead in Highway 99 crash south of Whistler: RCMP

Two adults and a child are dead after a fatal crash on Highway 99 Sunday morning, according to police.

Sea to Sky RCMP Insp. Robert Dykstra says at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a call for aid from the BC Ambulance Service.

Dykstra says a vehicle was heading north near Daisy Lake Dam, south of Whistler, when it crashed.

Three of the four occupants in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, says Dykstra.

“This is an absolute tragedy and our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to the families, friends, and loved ones of those involved and who will be impacted by this loss,” he said.

The fourth occupant, a woman, was taken to the hospital where she’s reported to be in stable condition.

At this time, Dykstra says the cause of the collision is not believed to be criminal in nature.

“I would like to take this opportunity as a general reminder to everyone, with winter weather conditions starting to emerge and the volumes of traffic through the Sea to Sky corridor increasing, it is imperative that drivers take extra care and pay closer attention to their driving,” he said.

“It’s better to arrive late than not to arrive at all.”
