North Vancouver RCMP are looking for witnesses after a 10-year-old boy was offered candy by a man in a white truck.
The Mounties say it happened near West 13th Street and Mahon avenue between noon and 1 p.m. on Dec. 4.
Police say the boy was walking to his friend’s house when the white truck drove by. They add he quickly became suspicious after the man in the passenger seat offered him candy, so he ran in the opposite direction towards a nearby library.

The incident was reported to police by the boy’s parents. No further contact was made by the suspect, police add.
Police describe the driver as having messy black hair and black facial hair.
“At this time, we have no evidence of a criminal offence,” said Const. Mansoor Sahak of the North Vancouver RCMP. “We are treating this as a suspicious incident, and are asking anyone who has information regarding this investigation, to contact us.”
Anyone who witnessed anything or has dashcam footage of the area is asked to call 604-985-1311 and quote file 23-25846.
“Police are also asking that the individual involved come forward to provide their account of the interaction,” Sahak added.
