Richmond RCMP investigate two shootings at local restaurants

Richmond RCMP are investigating two shootings that occurred during closing hours at local restaurants earlier this week.

On Dec. 18, police say they responded to reports of shots fired at a restaurant on Bridgeport Road, close to the Sea Island Bridge, around 10:30 p.m.

Then, on Dec. 20, police say they responded to a similar incident on Alderbridge Way, near the Lansdowne SkyTrain station, at around 11:30 p.m.

Police say both shootings appear targeted and not connected to the BC gang conflict. It’s not yet known if the two incidents are connected.

No injuries were reported in either incidents.

The RCMP says increased police activity can be expected in those areas as the investigation unfolds.

“The safety of our community remains our paramount priority and the investigations are being actively spearheaded by the Richmond RCMP Major Crime Unit,” Cpl. Dennis Hwang writes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212.
