With 23 wins and 49 points going into the winter break, the Vancouver Canucks are off to what some would say a “surprisingly good start.”
The last time a Canadian team performed this well, this early into the season, was 2005. Some fans say if the players keep up the good work, they may be able to secure a spot in the Stanley Cup Final.
Clay Imoo, co-host of Canucks After Dark on YouTube, says the team may need to switch things up a little before the trade deadline in March to keep the momentum.
“They should probably beef up their defense if they can and probably add one more scoring forward, because we can’t guarantee that all the players are playing so well. So, I think they can tinker, not go for the major trades, but just a little around the edges to make the team tougher heading into the new year,” said Imoo.
Other fans, while hopeful, are still a little hesitant about the team’s standing, given the 2011 Game 7 upset.
“I think they have a chance, but it still is regular season, we’ve had some disappointments. So, I’m trying not to be too excited. But I am excited for how they’re playing, and I do think they have potential.”
