Port Moody crash on Barnet Highway sends 2 people to hospital

Two people are hurt after a serious crash on Barnet Highway in Port Moody.

Police say the crash happened near Reed Point Marina just before 8 a.m. Thursday. Police, paramedics, and fire crews were called to the crash site, where they say two vehicles were involved.

One driver suffered serious injuries. Police say they had to be extricated from their vehicle. Both this driver and the driver in the other vehicle were taken to the hospital by BC Emergency Health Services.

It’s unclear what caused the crash, which forced the closure of the westbound lanes of Barnet Highway for a couple of hours. The road reopened just after 10 a.m.
