Vancouver police investigate first homicide of the year

The Vancouver Police Department says it is investigating a homicide that took place overnight in the city’s Kensington-Cedar Cottage neighbourhood.

Police say they responded to a call at a home near East 33rd Avenue and Knight Street just after 1 a.m. Sunday where they found a deceased man.

Officers arrested a 39-year-old man on the scene.

This is the first homicide of 2024, the VPD says.

The identity of the victim is unknown. Police say there is no risk to the public.

No further information is available, the VPD says, and the file remains under investigation.
