The Coquitlam RCMP says it’s working to identify two separate drivers after a woman was hit by a pair of vehicles and left with serious injuries over the weekend.
Mounties explain a patrol officer saw a vehicle with its hazards flashing stopped in the area of Pinetree Way and Guildford Way at 9:45 p.m. Saturday.
The RCMP says a good Samaritan had stopped to help the pedestrian, who was unconscious. It was determined the woman had been walking through a marked crosswalk in the area when she was hit by a car that was turning east onto Guildford.
Investigators say “within a short time,” a second vehicle heading east then hit the woman, who was on the ground. Neither vehicle stayed at the scene.
The woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Her condition at this time is not known.
The RCMP is asking anyone who may have information or who witnessed either collision to contact police. Mounties are also appealing to the drivers involved to come forward.
The first vehicle is described as a white four-door SUV that may have damage to the front or driver’s side. The second vehicle is described as a red or burgundy SUV, which may also have damage to the front or undercarriage.
“We would like to thank the good Samaritan who stopped their vehicle in an effort to help the victim,” said Corp. Alexa Hodgins.
Police are also asking anyone who may have video from the the area of Pinetree Way and Guildford Drive between 9:15 p.m. and 10 p.m. to get in touch with the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550, and quote file number 2024-2286.
