Four people charged in relation to Friday morning homicide in Surrey, says IHIT

Four men have been charged with murder in relation to a shooting in South Surrey Friday, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says.

On Friday morning, Mounties were called to the area of 164 Street and 10 Avenue just after 8:45 a.m. for reports that shots had rung out.

When officers arrived, they found a 28-year-old man, Yuvraj Goyal of Surrey, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the shooting appears to have been targeted, but investigators are looking into why Goyal — who has no history of police contact — was killed.

On Saturday, police arrested 23-year old Manvir Basram of Surrey, 20-year old Sahib Basra of Surrey, 23-year old Harkirat Jhutty of Surrey, and 20-year old Keilon Francois of Ontario. They have been charged with first degree murder in relation to the shooting.

No further information about the suspects has been released.

Anyone with information about the shooting or who was driving in the 900-block of 164 Street between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. or in the 18500-block of McMillan Road between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. with dash-camera footage is asked to call IHIT at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
