Sicamous man charged with second-degree murder: RCMP

A man has been charged with second-degree murder in Sicamous after a woman died at a mobile home park last week.

The RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit says on Wednesday, June 19, 66-year-old Jo Ann Jackson was found unresponsive in the driveway of a mobile home park on Hillier Road.

The event prompted a public safety warning.

At the time, RCMP arrested a suspect who was eventually released on conditions that they described as “undertaking for manslaughter with several preventative conditions” along with a ban on returning to the mobile home park.

RCMP says provincial prosecutors approved the charge against 37-year-old man, Scott Keith McDonald, on Monday — five days after the event.

McDonald is now in custody and his next court appearance is scheduled in provincial court in Salmon Arm, on July 2.
