West Vancouver crash victims identified as Indian students living in Canada

The victims of a deadly late-night multi-vehicle crash in West Vancouver last week have been identified as two young men from India in Canada on student visas.

The West Vancouver Police Department says the incident happened around 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, when a woman driving a vehicle travelling “eastbound in the westbound lanes” near Westport Road caused a “head-on collision.”

Police say they are not able to share more details, but a release on Wednesday confirmed that the men were 20 and 21-years-old.

It said another 20-year-old and 19-year-old were seriously injured in the crash.

The crash resulted “in the tragic death of two people and sending the remaining passengers to hospital,” the WVPD said last week.

The lone occupant of the vehicle travelling east was a 26-year-old woman, who police say is also a “foreign national.”

Sgt. Chris Bigland of the WVPD called the incident “heartbreaking,” adding that the families of the deceased and injured have been notified.
