A serious crash involving four vehicles, including a logging truck, closed Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge Tuesday morning and sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries.
The crash happened around 6:40 a.m. near the 287th Street intersection, the Ridge Meadows RCMP told CityNews.

The RCMP says officers arrived to the intersection to find damage to the semi-trailer truck, which was transporting logs, a black Chevrolet Tahoe, a white GMC van, and a grey Toyota Corolla.
The driver of the Tahoe was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extracted by firefighters and other first responders, police explain.
“One person was taken to hospital with serious injuries via air ambulance by BC Emergency Health Services,” the Ridge Meadows RCMP added.
According to CityNews Air Traffic Patrol Darren Grieve, an air ambulance was on scene just after 7:30 a.m., and departed shortly afterward.
Police say the drivers of the other vehicles involved “did not sustain any significant injuries.”
The RCMP says its investigators have determined the logging truck and Tahoe crashed while both were headed west on Lougheed Highway. The crash caused both vehicles to cross into the eastbound lanes, where they hit the van and Toyota Corolla.
What exactly caused the initial collision is still unclear, with police saying they are continuing to investigate.
Police had shut Lougheed Highway in closed in both directions between 280th Street and 287th Street for several hours. The westbound lanes reopened to traffic just after 2 p.m.
The Ridge Meadows RCMP is asking for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage from the area around the time of the crash to come forward. Police can be reached at 604-463-6251.
