J.T. Miller takes ‘indefinite leave’ from Vancouver Canucks

Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller is taking some time away from hockey, the team shared on Tuesday.
In a statement, the Canucks said Miller is taking “indefinite leave for personal reasons.”
“Right now, our sole focus is making sure that J.T. knows the entire organization is here to support him,” General Manager Patrik Allvin said.
“Out of respect to J.T., we will have no further comment at this time,” he added.
Miller, 31, has six goals and 10 assists in 17 games for the Canucks (9-5-3) this season. He had his best season in the NHL last year, notching 103 points (37 goals, 66 assists) in 81 games as the Canucks advanced to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Miller played just two shifts in the third period in the Canucks’ last game, a 5-3 loss to the visiting Nashville Predators on Sunday.
Coach Rick Tocchet said the benching was not related to an injury.
“I just went with the guys that I thought could get us back in the game,” he said.
In 816 career NHL games with the New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Canucks, Miller has 244 goals and 411 assists for 655 points.
