‘Taylor drinks for free’: Vancouver pub extends invitation to popstar ahead of Eras Tour shows

The hospitality sector is banking on a big windfall when Taylor Swift winds down her record-breaking ‘Eras Tour’ in Vancouver next month.

That includes The Cambie Pub, one of the oldest and longest-running bars in the city. A sign outside the 127-year-old Gastown watering hole reads “Taylor Drinks For Free.”

General Manager Stacy Pearson says the invitation is sincere.

“She drinks for free. If she stops by here, if her entourage comes in: 100 per cent, she can drink for free. We tried to do it with the Canucks, but nobody came in during the playoffs, so we’re hoping maybe this [promotion] will be a little bit more well known,” said Pearson.

“You see all these different marquees around town that have these fun slogans and fun sayings. And, I don’t know, I just thought one day, come in, have a drink, it’s on us. Maybe it brings them down.”

Pearson says it’s part of the pub’s three-day ‘Taylor Swift Party’ from Dec. 5 to 7.

“We’re going to make bracelets, we have special happy hour pricing, we also have special cocktails that we’re going to do for her. Our theme here is the ‘Reputation’ era. The one that Malone’s — which is our sister restaurant — they’re doing is ‘Lover’ as well. So, some really cool cocktails, things like that.”

Pearson notes fellow popstar Joe Jonas of The Jonas Brothers recently stopped-by on his way to performing at the Grey Cup halftime show.
