No injuries reported in Newton-area house fire, Surrey Fire Department says

Nobody appears to have been injured in a house fire in Newton neighbourhood on Thursday, the Surrey Fire Department tells 1130 NewsRadio.

Crews were called out to a single-family detached house on 60A Avenue near 135th Street around 5 p.m.

“We dispatched about five vehicles and 18 firefighters,” Deputy Fire Chief Shelley Morris said.

“When they arrived on scene, it was a fully involved residential structure fire. All the residents were out on arrival.”

It took crews around 45 minutes to extinguish the blaze, she says.

“Nobody was hurt.”

Morris says an investigation will take place in the morning.

“We don’t know the cause of the fire at this time.”

No neighbouring homes were damaged, the fire department says.
