BC Ferries has started to resume service on some of its major routes.
Multiple sailings had been cancelled or were at risk of being cancelled Saturday morning due to severe weather forecasts for high winds and “unfavourable sea state,” BC Ferries says.
Environment Canada has issued several wind alerts for Vancouver Island and the South Coast.
The following sailings were affected:
Between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay:
Sailings until 1 p.m. were cancelled.
Service will resume starting with 2:30 departure from Tsawwassen and 3 p.m. from Swartz Bay.
Between Tsawwassen and the Southern Gulf Islands:
Sailings until 12:40 p.m. were cancelled. Resumptions have not yet been announced.
Between Tsawwassen and Duke Point:
Sailings until 12:45 p.m. were cancelled. Resumptions have not yet been announced.
Between Horseshoe Bay and Departure Bay:
Sailings until 1 p.m. were cancelled. Resumptions have not yet been announced.
Several other routes may see cancellations, so the service advises passengers to check current conditions before heading to the terminal.
BC Ferries says if you have a booking on one of the cancelled sailings, customer service will contact you to advise whether or not they can accommodate you on later sailings or if your booking needs to be cancelled.
