2 dead, 1 in hospital after serious crash in Burnaby early Saturday

Early Saturday morning, Burnaby RCMP responded to a tragic crash at Boundary Road and Forest Street right by the Burnaby Hospital.

A serious crash in Burnaby early Saturday morning has claimed two lives and sent another person to hospital.

RCMP Corp. Mike Kalanj tells 1130 NewsRadio police responded to a collision involving two cars at Boundary Road and Forest Street just before 5 a.m.

“One vehicle was travelling west on Forest Street when it was struck by a vehicle driving north on Boundary Road,” Kalanj said.

“Life-saving measures were attempted on the occupants of the vehicle that was struck; however, they have both been pronounced deceased.”



The driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he says.

Northbound traffic was blocked off after the accident and remained closed for several hours.

Corp. Dave Noon posted on social media that the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) unit has been deployed.

The cause of the crash is unknown, and the RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team has taken control of the investigation.
