A fog advisory is in place for much of Metro Vancouver Monday morning, including the cities of Vancouver, Burnaby, and New Westminster.
Environment and Climate Change Canada says the “near zero visibility” fog is expected to hang around until about midday.
“Dense fog developed across Metro Vancouver last night. Most areas will see improved visibility by late morning with a few pockets likely to see dense fog until noon or early this afternoon,” ECCC said in its advisory.

1130 NewsRadio meteorologist Michael Kuss explains that the densest fog is being seen in some of the low-lying areas closer to the water.
“High pressure, a clear sky, and a low sun angle, and it’s a perfect recipe for fog. That’s what we have this morning,” Kuss explained.
“You finally get a dry day and it’s blanketed with fog through the morning. It’s not going to be widespread, at least, into the afternoon, we’ll see that fog starting to dissipate before noon, before this afternoon, it becomes a mix of sun and cloud,” he added.
