The BC Prosecution Service has charged a driver in connection to a crash in North Vancouver last March that left a restaurant employee badly injured.
Just after noon on March 16, 2024, North Vancouver RCMP officers responded to reports of a collision in the drive-thru of an A&W restaurant on Marine Drive.
Police say the driver struck the north wall of the building, causing a deep fryer to shift and spill hot oil on a nearby employee. The employee reportedly suffered serious injuries as a result of the spill.
“Primary care paramedics in two ambulances and a supervisor provided emergency medical treatment and transported one patient to hospital,” BC Emergency Health Services Spokesperson Bowen Osoko said at the time.
In an update Thursday, Mounties say the driver has been formally charged with one count of driving without due care and attention.
“This incident had devastating consequences for the victim and our thoughts remain with them as they continue their recovery,” said Const. Mansoor Sahak.
The North Vancouver RCMP says no further details will be provided.
