A day after the Vancouver Police Department warned the public that a convicted sex offender had been released into the city, a Canada-wide warrant was issued after he failed to return to his halfway house.
The VPD says Hayden McCorriston was last seen leaving his halfway house on Homer Street downtown just before 10:30 a.m. Friday.
Correctional Service Canada issued the warrant for his arrest Friday afternoon after McCorriston did not return.
McCorriston has a slim build and a shaved head, police say.
“He was last seen wearing a blue surgical mask, a black hat, a black long-sleeve shirt, dark blue or black pants, and black shoes with white soles,” Addison said in a release Saturday.

The 30-year-old was convicted of sexually assaulting multiple women in Burnaby and Vancouver in 2022, the VPD says.
In the public warning issued by police earlier this week, Sgt. Steve Addison said, “Vancouver Police believe McCorriston poses significant risk of harm to the community and is a high risk to commit further physical and sexual violence.”
Anyone who sees him is advised to call 911 immediately.
