Ontario man fined $483 after speeding on B.C. highway

The BC Highway Patrol is warning others about the dangers of speeding after a Tesla driver was caught going 111 kilometres per hour over the limit in April.
Mounties say a patrol officer was stopped with another vehicle at the side of Highway 17 near Delta when the Tesla passed by at “ridiculous” speed.
“The BC Highway Patrol officer captured a laser reading of 191 km/h in an 80 km/h zone,” a release said Wednesday.
Knowing the driver would soon be forced to slow down approaching city traffic, police say the officer was able to pull the driver over.
BCHP says a 20-year-old Brampton, Ont., man driving a Tesla owned by a Surrey man was fined hundreds of dollars, and the vehicle was impounded for a week.
“Excessive speeding is not only dangerous, but it often does not get you to where you’re going any faster. That’s before you even consider the $483 ticket and losing your vehicle,” said Cpl. Michael McLaughlin.
