Burnaby police investigating pair of stranger attacks near Metrotown

The Burnaby RCMP says it is looking into a pair of assaults in the Metrotown area Saturday evening.

Officers were called to the area of Willingdon Avenue near Kingsborough Street around 6 p.m. after a report of an assault in progress.

“A man had shoved an employee at a business as they were closing for the night,” Corp. Mike Kalanj told 1130 NewsRadio.

While police were looking into this assault, they got another call for a separate attack a block away at McKay Avenue and Kingsborough Street.

“… it was reported that a man, believed to be the same man from the first incident, spat on a person and assaulted another person,” he said.

“Extensive patrols were conducted in the area; however, the suspect was not located.”

All of the people who were attacked are safe, Kalanj says.

Anyone with any information or who may have witnessed the attacks is asked to call the Burnaby RCMP.
