Bush fire breaks out in Surrey on Saturday

A bush fire near the Honeybee Centre at Fraser Highway and Harvie Road in Surrey prompted a large response from Surrey Fire Services (SFS) on Saturday afternoon.

SFS Chief Carl Schmor said crews were called to the fire at approximately 5 p.m.

A total of 24 firefighters responded to the blaze, which spread across roughly 20 acres. Firefighters worked through the evening and overnight to bring the blaze under control, remaining on scene until about 9 a.m. Sunday.



No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged as a result of the fire, according to SFS.

Surrey Police Service assisted by providing traffic control in the area while firefighters battled the blaze.

The cause of the fire has not been released.
