Brendan Liaw, a recent UBC graduate who lives in Richmond, ended a three-game winning streak on Jeopardy! this week.
Liaw — who describes himself as a “stay-at-home son” — ended up losing on Friday to Jim Carpenter, a retired music professor and conductor from Charlotte, Vt.
His streak began Tuesday when he beat returning champ Mitch Loflin, a set-decoration coordinator from Long Beach, Calif.
Throughout his wins this week, Liaw managed to rack up $59,398 in winnings.
The shows were recorded two months ago, and Liaw was contractually barred from telling anyone how many episodes he had already won.
Earlier this week, he told 1130 NewsRadio that appearing on the game show was his dream, and he says his time on the show felt “surreal.” He also says he has been touched by all the support from people in Metro Vancouver.
