The Coquihalla Highway has reopened in both directions between Hope and Merritt after an earlier closure due to a sinkhole, DriveBC says.
The northbound lanes and one southbound lane had been closed after the sinkhole was discovered Thursday evening in the northbound slow lane about 80 kilometres south of Merritt. The highway was closed in both directions overnight Friday to give access to crews.
DriveBC says the left lane remains closed in both directions near the Great Bear Snow Shed due to catch basin repairs.
The B.C. Ministry of Transportation says the sinkhole appears to have been the result of nearby pipeline boring.
