Shots fired at Maple Ridge house for second time in weeks

A Maple Ridge home, currently on the market for more than $3.5 million, is now a crime scene after being shot at twice in three weeks —most recently, early Wednesday morning. Monika Gul reports.

The Ridge Meadows RCMP is investigating after a Maple Ridge home was hit with gunfire for the second time this year.

On May 30, Mounties say they responded to shots fired at a residence on 266 Street around 3 a.m. No injuries were reported.

In a news release, the RCMP says it received reports of shots fired at the same address once again early Wednesday morning.

Again, police say no injuries were reported.

“Both incidents are believed to be targeted and the investigations are ongoing. Ridge Meadows RCMP recognizes the concerns of local residents and is taking steps to ensure appropriate public measures are in place.”

Despite the RCMP’s reassurances, neighbours say they are feeling uneasy.

“Nobody wants this kind of activity in your neighbourhood,” Armen Jeknavorian told CityNews. “Especially twice in a matter of a couple of weeks. It’s a little bit concerning.”

Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call the Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604-463-6251.
