Shots fired at North Vancouver home linked to fatal speed boat crash suspect

A North Vancouver home that was the target of gunfire Sunday appears to be linked with the man suspected of killing a 10-year-old boy in a speed boat crash in June.
The North Vancouver RCMP says the homeowner reported hearing a loud bang and discovered bullet holes on their Tollcross Road residence near Plymouth Drive.

“The residence was occupied at the time, fortunately, no one was injured,” Mounties explained Monday.
Property records show the house may be associated with the main suspect in a boating tragedy in Cates Park on June 7.
A speed boat struck two children on an inflatable tube that was towed by another boat.
One 10-year-old boy was pronounced deceased at the scene, while another child was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition.
The boat operator was arrested that day and released the next day on conditions. Police said speed and alcohol may have been a factor.
In an update Tuesday, Corp. Mansoor Sahak with the North Vancouver RCMP confirmed that charges have not been laid in the boat crash case.
The suspect was originally expected to appear in court Wednesday. Sahak says that appearance will be moved to a later date, once police are able to recommend charges.
Details of the Sunday shooting are limited, including whether or not the shooter was motivated or targeting the residents, but police say there is no known threat to public safety.
