Monday marks Metro Vancouver’s deadline to register wood-burning fireplaces

Monday is the last day to register a wood-burning fireplace or stove with Metro Vancouver.
Metro Vancouver says the free registration is part of a bylaw that was adopted in 2020 to protect air quality and reduce wood smoke.
CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO 1130 NEWSRADIO VANCOUVER LIVE!Failure to register by the deadline will result in the prohibition of using unregistered wood-burning appliances in urban zones after that date.
The district also offers rebates of up to $1,500 to upgrade to cleaner, wood-burning models or heat pumps instead.
