Light earthquake hit Haida Gwaii

Residents of Haida Gwaii felt the earth shaking on Monday after 1:45 p.m.

According to Emergency Info B.C., a light quake hit 75 kilometres west of Daajing Giids.

The earthquake had a magnitude of 4.3. Any tremor over 4.0 is considered a light quake and rarely causes damage.

No tsunami threat is expected.

B.C. is one of Canada’s most seismically active regions, with an estimated of three to 4.000 per year.
