Woman injured in shooting at west Surrey home

Police are investigating after a shooting at a Surrey home Sunday night.
The Surrey Police Service (SPS) responded to reports of shots fired outside a home near Scott Road shortly after 9 p.m.

“An adult female who had been struck by a bullet that came from the outside into the inside of the house. She was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She remains in hospital and is expected to fully recover, thankfully,” Sgt. Lindsey Houghton said.
The SPS says investigators will be present throughout the day to examine the area for physical and digital evidence.
Police say the motive and any connection to other investigations have not yet been determined.
“There can be many reasons why an individual or a residence can be the target of a shots fired. It may have, as we’ve seen in several cases already this year, be related to extortions,” Houghton explained.
The police say that officers found several other people inside the home when they arrived.
“It may be related to previous or past residents, or maybe related to an individual’s connection to other types of criminal activity,” Houghton added.
No arrests have been made yet.
Images from the scene show police barricading the entire cul-de-sac of 101B Avenue from the intersection with 121 Street.
Later Sunday night, two officers in a police vehicle, responding to the shooting, were involved in a crash on 96 Avenue near 125 Street. The officers were reportedly taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and occupants of the other vehicle in the crash were uninjured.
