Man taken to hospital after shooting in Surrey’s Newton neighbourhood

Police are investigating a shooting that took place in Surrey’s Newton neighbourhood Thursday night.
Shortly before midnight, police received reports of shots fired in a home in the area of 140B Street and 59th Avenue.



When officers arrived, they found a man with an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital, and police say he is reported to be in stable condition.
A man was arrested on the scene.
Police say the investigation is in its early stages, but they don’t believe it is connected to extortion. They haven’t said whether the men knew each other or if they live at the house.
This was one of two separate shootings that took place in the city within a short period of time.
