1 injured in serious crash that closed Sea to Sky Highway

One person was critically injured Wednesday in a serious crash along the Sea to Sky Highway between Squamish and Whistler.

BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) says paramedics in four ambulances responded to the scene on Highway 99 near Cheakamus around 3:20 p.m.

Details are limited, but BCEHS confirmed that “one patient was transported to hospital in critical condition.”

Pictures posted on social media show several badly damaged vehicles, including a Skylynx bus, and debris strewn over the road.

1130 NewsRadio has reached out to Squamish RCMP for more information about the crash.

The highway was closed for hours until authorities opened a single lane for alternating traffic around 6:30 p.m. and reopened all lanes around 9 p.m.
