2 men arrested after fight in Whalley sends 6 to hospital, Surrey police say

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) says two men were taken into custody after a fight that resulted in six people being taken to hospital.

Officers were called to a home near 133 Street and 89 Avenue in the city’s Whalley neighbourhood shortly before 8:30 p.m., where two groups of men were allegedly fighting.

When police arrived, they found six men with “varying injuries.” BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) tells CityNews that all of these men were taken to hospital, five in serious condition and one in stable condition.

“The investigation led to two of the males being arrested, and they were taken into custody without incident,” the SPS said.

Two of the six men remain in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Sgt. Lindsey Houghton says the assault affected people who were “possibly roommates and people who know each other.”

Police add that the incident is neither gang-related nor extortion-related.

“There has been no shooting,” Houghton said.

Images from the scene show multiple ambulances and police crews on scene.

The men who were arrested have been released on conditions while police investigate.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call SPS’s non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and refer to file 26-46640(SP).
