Where to celebrate Canada Day 2026 across the Lower Mainland

The Lower Mainland is going to celebrate Canada Day on Wednesday, the country’s 159th birthday.
Many events in Metro Vancouver will feature fireworks, live music, food trucks, citizenship ceremonies, and other fun activities.

According to organizers, guests can look forward to all-day family fun with live music on multiple stages, an Indigenous Marketplace, performers, and food vendors.
The highlight will be a ceremony in which immigrants receive their citizenship documents.
The event kicks off at 11 a.m. and goes until 6 p.m.
Not far from downtown, people can flock to Granville Island to enjoy the annual False Creek Ferries water ballet and other performances by the Vancouver International Jazz Festival artists.
Visitors can join a giant cake cutting action and watch the FIFA World Cup matches of the day on a large screen.
Travelling east, the Burnaby StreetFest on Central, opening at 6:30 p.m., will see several music performances and a major fireworks display at 10:15 p.m.
Visitors to New Westminster‘s Canada Day celebration can enjoy food vendors, a beer garden, a kids zone, Bubble Soccer, and live music. The festivities will conclude with a drone show at 10 p.m.
Crossing the Fraser River into Richmond, the Steveston Salmon Festival, lovingly called Canada’s biggest little birthday party, is one of the largest, not-for-profit Canada Day celebrations in the country.
Coordinator Mary-Ann Pizzinato tells 1130 NewsRadio that there is a full line-up of musical acts, including a well-known Canadian headliner.
“We do have a closing act, and it’s Barney Pentel and the Legendary Hearts. So, they’re going to start performing at 6:15 p.m. We are really excited to have that.”
She recommends visitors get there early.
“Around 8 a.m. in the morning, please come down and have our pancake breakfast from our Steveston Rotary. We will have our Kids Bike parade, which is fun at 9:30 a.m. before we start our regular parade at 10:00 a.m.”
She adds that foodies will not want to miss the iconic Salmon Bake.
“We will start serving it at 11 a.m. Last year we did sell out in record-breaking time. We sold 3,000 meals by 12:30 p.m. So please come early if you want the salmon.”
Surrey’s main event will take place at Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre, featuring live music headlined by Josh Ross and fireworks at 10:15 p.m.
With amusement rides back at the amphitheatre, the event will offer fun for young and old alike.
Kids activities include a family zone, a kids’ craft zone, and Toddler Town, while adults can hang out at the beer garden.
White Rock will organize another Canada Day by the Bay event for July 1. Bad Medicine, a Bon Jovi tribute band, will headline the event at 8:30 p.m. with country-roots artist Antonio Larosa opening at 7 p.m.
This year, the celebration has a kids and soccer zone. The fireworks start at 10:15 p.m.
Delta will celebrate Canada’s birthday with live music, dance and cultural performances, giant games and interactive activities, and a fireworks finale.
The event takes place at Chalmers Park, kicking off at 4 p.m.
The Township of Langley will celebrate Canada Day at the Willoughby Community Park with doors opening at 11 a.m. and closing after the fireworks at 10 p.m.
Organizers say that visitors can enjoy rides, main-stage entertainment, a car show, a dog show, and pony rides.
On the North Shore, North Vancouver will host celebrations at the Shipyards, with the FIFA watch party happening there at the same time, and West Vancouver at John Lawson Park.
Coquitlam‘s celebration kicks off at Town Centre Park at noon.
Like many other Canada Day events, people can enjoy live music at two stages, food vendors, and a fireworks show starting at 10 p.m.
The event will also feature a photo giggle booth, mini golf, soccer, hockey, and football.
Port Coquitlam Canada Day will be held at Castle Park starting as early as 8:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre.
Live music will be performed by, among others, April Wine and Owen Riegling.
The city will also feature a fishing derby at Lions Park, going from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Canada Day in Pitt Meadows will be celebrated at šxʷhék̓ʷnəs (Spirit Square) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Among an artisan alley, a dog show, and a kids zone, the highlight will be a watermelon eating contest at the front of the venue’s stage.
Maple Ridge‘s Canada Day celebration will run from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the city’s Memorial Peace Park and feature live entertainment, cultural performances, family activities, food trucks, a licensed beverage area, and FIFA World Cup viewing festivities.
Abbotsford starts the celebrations with a parade at 11 a.m., and festivities kick off at 1 p.m. at the city’s Exhibition Park.
