Man convicted and sentenced for 2022 murder in Abbotsford: IHIT

A 25-year-old man has been sentenced for the 2022 murder of a 41-year-old Abbotsford man.
Tanner Fox pleaded guilty to the lesser-included offence of manslaughter of Chad Colivas with a firearm on April 20.
On July 22, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison with no credit for time served.
At the time of sentencing, Fox was already in custody for another murder conviction.
Fox’s co-accused, 30-year-old Laetitia Acera, pleaded guilty to break-and-enter after initially being charged with manslaughter in February 2025.
She was sentenced in April 2025 to four years in prison and two years probation.
The murder happened in conjunction with a break-and-enter that Fox and Acera carried out on March 21, 2022.
The two broke into Colivas’s home, and Fox shot him when Colivas confronted him.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called in to investigate.
“The victim was only 41 years old when his life was taken away due to a senseless act of violence,” says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT.
“While the sentencing does not change that fact, we hope it represents a step forward for his loved ones as they continue their healing process.”
