The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) released a statement Friday that a man arrested and charged with multiple offences related to the sexual exploitation of children has been sentenced.

David Massie Douglas, 65, was arrested on Nov. 30, 2023 in relation to offences that occurred between 2013 and 2021 across multiple jurisdictions.

The initital investigation was started in March of 2023 after a historic sexual assault allegation was reported to AbbyPD.

AbbyPD’s various departments worked together to gather evidence and identify a suspect. Their investigation led them to Douglas.

On Oct. 27, Douglas was sentenced to eight years in prison for two counts of sexual interference and one count of possession of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material.
