One dead after fatal fire in Maple Ridge, investigation underway

MAPLE RIDGE (NEWS 1130) — One person is dead after a house fire broke out Saturday afternoon in Maple Ridge, according to a Facebook post from the city’s mayor.
The blaze broke out at around 1:30 p.m. near 267 Street and Dewdney Trunk Road.
Nine units were dispatched to respond and one person was treated at the scene, according to BC Emergency Health Services.
Fire crews and police are on scene investigating.
Mayor Mike Morden says the city will update the public when more information is available.
Photos sent to NEWS 1130 Saturday afternoon showed a giant cloud of smoke rising from the trees, with multiple fire engines, ambulances and police cars at the scene.
