Head-on Massey Tunnel crash leaves one dead

RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) – A head-on crash in the Massey Tunnel Wednesday morning has left one person dead, the B.C. Coroners Service has confirmed.
Few other details are being released at this time.
Footage from the scene shows two badly damaged vehicles after the crash, which witnesses say happened around midnight.
"We are early in our investigation to determine the cause, with no further details at this time."

The collision happened in what are normally the southbound lanes of the Massey Tunnel as crews had the northbound lanes shut down for maintenance.
The incident forced the closure of the tunnel in both directions for several hours. It has since reopened.

It’s unclear how badly anyone else involved in the crash was hurt.
