Murder charge laid in North Vancouver library stabbing

NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — A 28-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to Saturday’s stabbing spree in and around the Lynn Valley Library.
Yannick Bandaogo — who’s known to police — was arrested on the scene, remains in police custody and has undergone surgery for self-inflicted wounds.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has confirmed the woman who died from her injuries was in her late 20s.
IHIT adds, six people who were sent to the hospital sustained stab wounds of varying severity.

“This is a deeply profound and tragic incident that has shaken all of us,” Inspector Michelle Tansey, Acting Officer-in-Charge of IHIT says in a release. “I commend our investigators and partners for the remarkable work they have done and continue to do under challenging circumstances. My sincere condolences to yesterday’s victims and their families and to all who have been affected by this crime.”

IHIT will be holding a news conference Monday at the Lynn Valley Library.
