SURREY (NEWS 1130) — A late night fire in Surrey has been successfully knocked down but not everyone will be able to return to the mixed residential, commercial building right away.
The fire started downstairs in the two-storey building at 107 A Avenue and King George Boulevard shorty after 8 p.m.

The fire quickly spread from the bottom to the upstairs residential unit and all the way through the roof.
“The whole roof of the structure was involved, so they won’t be able to return home,” says Deputy Fire Chief Jason Cairney with Surrey Fire.
“There’s going to be some water damage in those businesses but I’m not sure if the fire damage goes that low.
No injuries were reported but the lone residential unit upstairs sustained the most significant damage.
It’s unclear how many people lived in the family suite.
A cause of the fire has not been determined.
Surrey Fire closed off the area Friday night, detouring Southbound traffic to 108 Avenue along King George Boulevard.
UPDATE: Surrey Fire crews still in the area. Detour still in place SB King George and 108th ave. https://t.co/0gzfr2e0iU
