B.C. bars donating sales of left-over Russian liquor products to Ukraine

With B.C. halting the import and sale of Russian liquor products from local store shelves and donating to the Red Cross, some bars in the province are following suit.
“It’s a symbolic gesture to stand with the people of Ukraine at this moment,” Jeff Guignard with the Alliance of Beverage Licensees says.
He tells CityNews some local bars and restaurants have taken it upon themselves to donate 100 per cent of the remaining Russian product sales so they can “make a difference to the folks in Ukraine.”

He adds there are only about 25 products affected by the announcement, so the missing product won’t affect consumers too much.
Ontario, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick have made similar moves in selling Russian liquor in their provinces.
The Canadian Red Cross promises to match all donations to Ukrainian relief up to 10 million dollars.
Guignard encourages people to buy local products considering there is a range of products available.
