Homicide investigators called to Burnaby

Police in Burnaby believe a man was targeted in a suspected homicide in a gravel lot in an industrial area of the city. Mounties say the victim’s body was found near a vacant building on Norland Avenue near Laurel Street Thursday morning.

Police in Burnaby believe a man was targeted in a suspected homicide in a gravel lot in an industrial area of the city.

Mounties say the victim’s body was found near a vacant building on Norland Avenue near Laurel Street Thursday morning.

The area is a fairly busy one, located next to Highway 1.

“The victim had injuries consistent with foul play. Efforts are underway to identify the victim, but there are early indications it was a targeted incident,” reads a statement from Burnaby RCMP.

Police are still working to identify the victim.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the case, the second announced in Metro Vancouver on Thursday.

Anyone with dashcam video taken near Norland Avenue and Laurel Street between 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13 and 9:45 am on Thursday, July 14, or have any other information, is asked to call 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
