Could you imagine being able to help solve crime while you scroll on social media?
A new online ad platform used by Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers (MVCS) will pop up on your social media platforms to broadcast information about crimes in your location.
The platform, called SOLV, actively shows criminal activity exactly where you are, and broadcasts crime information through ads while people scroll.
Linda Annis with MVCS says the platform is aimed at encouraging people to provide tips anonymously and to raise awareness to local criminal activity.
“If a crime is happening in a specific neighborhood, people in that neighborhood need to know and they need to be knowing what to look for,” she said. “I am hopeful that it will be a very useful tool in helping to solve a lot of crimes.”

Annis says SOLV is used by Crime Stoppers organizations worldwide, adding use of the platform is quite simple.
She says you can respond anonymously any time by clicking on the digital ad when it comes up on social media platforms, and it will direct you to the Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers website. Once on the website, police-fed crime information is immediately accessible.
SOLV Technology’s CRO Anthany Grunstein says he’s delighted to support Crime Stoppers in Vancouver.
“It was clear to us at the outset that the team at Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers understands how technology can add power to their cause,” said Grunstein in a release.
SOLV Technology is based in Singapore and says it has a focus on helping law enforcement and governments with communication on a massive scale.
