Knox Mountain wildfire prompts evacuation orders in Kelowna

The City of Kelowna has issued evacuation orders for multiple areas as crews battle the Knox Mountain wildfire.
Residents in the Knox Mountain, Magic Estates and Poplar Point areas must leave immediately.
The fire is an estimated 3.5 hectares in size and was discovered Saturday afternoon, according to the BC Wildfire Service.
The popular park is near the city’s downtown. Smoke from the fire is highly visible throughout the area.

The BC Wildfire Service says crews and aviation resources are helping the Kelowna Fire Department get a handle on the fire.
The public is being asked to avoid the Knox Mountain area for the time being.
