BCIT Burnaby campus buildings evacuated due to ‘natural gas incident’

Two buildings on BCIT’s Burnaby campus were evacuated Wednesday due to a ‘natural gas incident,’ the school said in a post on X.
“Due to a reported natural gas incident on the BCIT Burnaby Campus, we are currently evacuating buildings SE14 and SE16,” it said.
“The BCIT community is not in immediate danger,” it said. “More information will be communicated as it becomes available.”

A further post from the school said the buildings will remain evacuated for the rest of the day and won’t reopen until Thursday, at which point they will reopen for regular business hours.
